What’s included in the £700 all-inclusive package

Fixed price for Peugeot 208 1.0 / 1.2 PureTech (2012–2019). Parts and labour included. Work carried out in a small independent garage, by appointment only.

• Timing belt kit replacement New belt, tensioner and rollers installed with correct locking tools and torque settings.
• Crankshaft bolt replacement New crank bolt torqued to manufacturer specification – no re-using stretched bolts.
• Oil and filter service Fresh engine oil, new oil filter and air filter – essential after belt debris contamination.
• Rocker cover gasket replacement New rocker cover gasket to keep the top of the engine clean and oil-tight.
• Oil sump and strainer inspection & cleaning Sump removed if necessary, oil pick-up strainer inspected and cleaned to remove timing belt particles.
• VVT solenoids inspection & cleaning Intake and exhaust VVT solenoids checked and cleaned to prevent sticking due to rubber debris.
• Computer diagnostics Pre- and post-repair scan to check for timing, oil pressure or VVT related fault codes.
• Light improvements Small adjustments or fixes where possible (for example, clearing minor warnings, topping up fluids).

Warranty & additional repairs

All labour on the timing belt package is covered by a 6-month warranty. If we find any extra issues (for example, oil leaks, damaged pulleys or unusual engine wear), we will discuss them with you first.

Any additional work is priced separately, but you can be confident the rates will stay low while the quality of work remains high. No surprise bills – you confirm every extra step before we touch it.

Why timing belt maintenance is critical on Peugeot 208 PureTech

The 1.0 and 1.2 PureTech engines use a timing belt that runs in engine oil. Over time the belt ages, softens and starts to shed tiny rubber particles into the oil.

Ignoring a worn timing belt on these engines doesn’t only risk the belt snapping. It also means:

• Clogged oil channels and pick-up – possible engine damage if oil pressure drops.
• Unstable variable valve timing – rough running, fault codes, poor fuel economy.
• Increased risk of internal engine components wear due to contaminated oil.

That’s why this package is built around the whole oil system, not just the belt itself. Belt, oil, filters, sump, strainer and VVT system are addressed together, so the engine can breathe and lubricate properly again.
